The most common type of marine bioluminescence is generated by phytoplankton known as dinoflagellates. A recent study co-authored by Hastings has for the first time identified a special channel in the dinoflagellate cell membrane that responds to electrical signals—offering a potential mechanism for how the algae create their unique illumination. Glittering or flashing seas have long been linked to marine microbes—and now scientists think they know how the life-forms create light.

During my two years in sunny Malaga, I got to know many wonderful people, collected delicious tastes and unforgettable moments. Now I am back in my home country, to start a new exciting project…With my background and knowledge of French and Spanish cuisine now I am searching, cooking and baking my mother’s and grandmother’s old recipes and discovering the traditions of my half-Hungarian, half-German origins. In the meantime we are renovating our little countryside house step by step in the village where my grandmother was born. There is a looooot of work to do, but I am sure we will have a lot of fun (even if at some moments we will wish to be in a five-star hotel drinking champagne and not thinking about electricity, bricks and roof) The old fruit trees need love and care, the garden has to be filled with life, the vegetable garden needs to be set up to serve us with fresh vegetables every season. Áron, my boyfriend is responsible for the technical matters, I am in charge of the food section, Beeper, our dog, is doing her very best in her job: making a mess, putting her toys around every corner, digging the garden, reblog.… I would like to guide you through beautiful Hungarian landscapes while we will be cooking, eating, chatting and laughing a lot which are for me the essence of life.

Want to travel alone? You’re not the only one! Travelling alone will change your life. Don’t get me wrong, any form of wandering around this beautiful planet will bring changes and improvement to the lives of those with restless feet, but there’s something special about solo adventures. Travelling by yourself means not being able to rely on anyone else to get the most out of your trips. It means you are left to navigate your place in the world, to embrace or shun the ever-changing call of the wild. No matter where you go and what you do, it will change you.

Rest a while and run a mile.

While resting between runs may make a lot of sense, it is much more difficult to wrap your head around the concept of resting while you run. When you go out for a run, the concept of rest that comes to mind is shutting down, sitting down, and possibly laying down. But any of those options aren’t productive for finishing an endurance event. You can’t just lay down and take a nap every time you get tired. You would never cross the finish line if you did that. Instead, why not rest on the run.

A Vision of Beauty

I have been asked tonight to talk about a Christian vision of
beauty, and I am first struck by the fact that this conversation would
be so rare. There are altogether too few opportunities for Christians
to ponder some of the biggest questions of life. We tend to focus on
the questions of urgency and the questions of immediate interest. That
is not to say that such questions are improper, but it is to say that
Christian thought can sometimes fall out of balance. One of the
realities we face is that in a conversation like this, we are not
exactly sure where to begin. Where should we begin talking about beauty?
